For organisations

Artificial intelligence

Using AI tools sensibly in a small organisation: where they help, and the risks to manage.

AI assistants can draft letters and funding applications, summarise documents, tidy spreadsheets and answer questions, and many organisations in Fife already use them. Used with care they save time; used carelessly they can leak personal data, invent facts or produce text that no longer sounds like you.

  • Do not paste personal or confidential information into a tool unless you know where it goes and your data protection policy allows it.
  • Check facts, figures and references; these tools make mistakes confidently.
  • Agree in your organisation what AI may be used for, and be open with funders and the public about it.
  • Keep a human responsible for anything that goes out in the organisation's name.

FVA will add guidance and training as practice develops. If you are unsure about a particular use, ask us.
