For local people

Get on board

Use your skills and experience to help govern a charity or community organisation in Fife as a trustee, director or committee member.

Would you like to volunteer, but feel you do not have enough time to commit to something regularly? Do you feel passionate about a particular cause or community issue? Do you enjoy being part of a team?

If you can answer yes to any of those, we have just the opportunity for you. Voluntary organisations could not exist without volunteer board members, trustees, directors and management committee members: the people who take a shared responsibility for running the organisation. You do not need management experience, just an interest in what the organisation does. Training and support are available, and the time commitment is usually something anybody can manage, even alongside a full-time job.

If you have particular skills - management, HR, finance, law, property, fundraising, digital - organisations would love to hear from you. Just as often, people become board members because of their own experience of an issue: children's groups, health and disability organisations, and many others. The roles below are open now. Each one links to its own page, where you can read what is involved and get in touch. If you would rather talk it over first, call us free on 0800 389 6046 or e-mail [email protected].

Board member, trustee, director or committee member?

Organisations have different names for the volunteers who are responsible for running them: some say board members, some committee members, some directors or governors. Broadly speaking they mean the same thing - the people at the top, who are ultimately responsible. These are important roles, training and support are available for them, and without volunteers at board level voluntary organisations could not exist.
