For public sector partners

What we do for public sector partners

How Fife Voluntary Action, as the third sector interface for Fife, works with the council, the NHS and the Health and Social Care Partnership.

FVA is funded by the Scottish Government, Fife Council and Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, with a contribution from NHS Fife, to carry out four core functions: to support, develop and represent the third sector; to support, develop and represent social enterprise; to support, develop and represent volunteering; and to support the sector's engagement with community planning.

For public sector colleagues that means one place to go to reach a sector of thousands of organisations and tens of thousands of volunteers. We can:

  • represent the third sector on strategic partnerships and consult it on policy and plans
  • manage grant programmes and commissioning processes on your behalf, from application to monitoring
  • run forums and networks that bring providers together around a theme
  • provide data about local services through the directory and Odin, our database of services
  • support organisations you fund to be well governed and financially sound, including through organisational healthchecks
  • involve people with lived experience in service design, and support volunteering across public services
