Legal, privacy and cookie information

How we handle personal information that reaches us through this website, your rights, and the terms for using the site.

This page explains how Fife Voluntary Action uses personal information that reaches us through this website, what your rights are, and the terms for using the site.

Our cookie information page lists every cookie the website uses. Our privacy notices explain what each of our services does with the personal information it collects.

Who we are

Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. We are a company limited by guarantee registered in Scotland (No. SC203613) and a Scottish charity (No. SC028457). Our registered office is Caledonia House, Pentland Park, Saltire Centre, Glenrothes, KY6 2AL.

If you have a question about your personal information, e-mail [email protected] or call us free on 0800 389 6046.

What we collect through this website

  • What you send us. We collect personal information when you choose to send it with one of our forms - for example booking a place at an event, asking for a Footcare Fife appointment, applying for a grant, signing up for a bulletin, or telling us about a change to an organisation in our Directory of services. Each form says what it asks for and why, and the privacy notice for that service explains what we do with it.
  • Signing in. If you have an account with us, signing in is handled by Auth0 (a service of Okta), which checks who you are and tells our website. You stay signed in on that device for up to 60 days, or until you sign out.
  • Counting visits. We count how many pages are visited using figures from Cloudflare, the service that delivers our website. They are totals, use no cookies and do not identify anybody. If you agree to analytics cookies, we also use Google Analytics to see how the site is used - see cookie information.
  • Technical records. Like every website, ours keeps short-lived records of the requests made to it, such as your device's internet address and the type of browser, to keep the site secure and working. We do not use them to identify visitors.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not publish or pass on what you send us without your permission, unless the law requires it. Sometimes we need to share your name and contact details with a partner to deliver something you asked for - for example a training session we run jointly with another organisation - and we only share what that needs. We will never add you to a mailing list without your permission.

A few companies handle information on our behalf to run the website: Microsoft (which hosts the website and its database), Cloudflare (which delivers and protects it), Auth0 (signing in), Constant Contact (which sends our e-mail bulletins) and, only if you agree to analytics cookies, Google.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (a subject access request), and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. You can ask by e-mail, by letter or in person. Our subject access request form (PDF) may help, but you do not have to use it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first - see feedback and complaints. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Using this website

Copyright. The design, code and content of this website belong to Fife Voluntary Action unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to link to any of our pages; please ask us before copying our content or data, including information from our Directory of services.

Accuracy. We take care to keep the information here accurate and up to date, but much of it comes from other organisations. We cannot accept liability for any loss arising from decisions made on the basis of it.

Other websites. We link to other websites we think will be useful. We are not responsible for what they contain, and a link does not mean we share the views on them.

Something wrong? If you find a link that no longer works, or anything on our site that you think is wrong or inappropriate, please e-mail [email protected] and we will look at it promptly.

The law. These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute about them will be dealt with by the Scottish courts. We may update this page from time to time; the date at the foot of the page shows when it last changed.
