Neurodiversity awareness is increasingly important in the field of employability.
Neurodivergence is often under-diagnosed and recent changes in the way we recognise and acknowledge neurodiversity across society as a whole have shown that a better understanding of how to help neurodivergent people will be far more important going forward for Fife’s employability network and practitioners.
At this session, Donaldson Trust and Fife Council Supported Employment Service will help participants understand:
- General awareness of neurodiversity and what kind of stigma and discrimination neurodivergent people face
- Becoming more confident in understanding neurodiversity as it applies to the world of work and what job-seeking means as challenge for neurodivergent people
- What barriers to employment, including skills issues and recruitment process issues emerge from being a neurodivergent jobseeker.
- Understanding Autism and ADHD
- What a good strategy for supporting neurodivergent people might look like, in a job-seeking context, including universal design and inclusive approaches
