Could you make a lasting difference in a young person's life? Join Volunteering Fife for this free online information session to find out more about becoming a Grandmentor in Fife.

Grandmentors is an award-winning intergenerational mentoring programme delivered by Volunteering Matters. They recruit, train and support volunteer mentors, usually aged 50+, and match them with young people aged 16 to 26 who are care experienced, have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences, or are facing significant life challenges.

As a Grandmentor, you'll provide regular one-to-one support, encouragement and guidance, helping a young person build confidence, develop life skills and work towards goals that matter to them.

During this one-hour session you'll learn:

  • What Grandmentors is
  • What volunteer mentors do
  • The young people they support
  • What's involved in becoming a mentor
  • Training, ongoing support and expenses
  • Time commitment
  • Questions and discussion

No previous mentoring experience is needed. They're looking for people with good communication skills, patience, reliability and a genuine desire to support young people.

Mentors usually volunteer for 2 - 3 hours each week or fortnight.
