Vulnerable people who are newly employed, or with employers that may not ensure that their employees are fully aware of employment rights, need support in knowing their rights as an employee.
Things as simple as laws around holiday entitlements, how to register a grievance and where to look for help if there is an issue around sickness pay can be daunting subjects for those who have only recently started in work, or are in short term contracts.
At this session, Kathleen Bolt will tell frontline third sector workers and their managers how they can support clients in the workplace with regards to employment rights.
Information given out at this session can then be cascaded out to colleagues and clients to help those in work who might struggle to engage with their employers about what they are entitled to.
Participants at this session will:
- Receive updates on recent changes to employment law
- Gain an understanding of basic employment and equality rights in the workplace and how these can support their clients
- Discuss common issues that arise in recruitment, the first few months in a new job or when life challenges arise affecting employment
- Understand how to assist clients to consider the disclosure of personal information
- Understand core relevant workplace policies and procedures
- Understand how to signpost clients for help in the above areas
This is an all-day course and lunch will be provided to participants.
The training will be delivered by Kathleen Bolt Mediation Services Ltd. Kathleen is a solicitor and mediator, she specialises in employment and equality law and workplace mediations.
All participants will receive a certification of attendance.
