About this opportunity

The main duties are to support the ward staff/activities co-ordinator in engaging with patients individually or in small groups to encourage positive communication and assist in maintaining patient’s independence. This is achieved through the implementation of meaningful activities, with an aim to minimise patient’s stress and distress and improve their wellbeing. Activities may include arts/crafts, singing low level exercise and simple games.

In addition to the above, volunteers can assist ward staff in the clinical environment by carrying out a range of non clinical tasks and activities to support the staff in the delivery of patient care.
