About this service

Fife International Forum previously delivered two key employability initiatives: Tackling Child Poverty (TCP) and the Pre-Academy Programme. Fife International Forum has now integrated both initiatives into a single, streamlined Employability Pathway. This new model provides greater structure, consistency, and improved outcomes for participants.

The Tackling Child Poverty (TCP) element is a holistic, person-centred project that supports parents who are unemployed, underemployed, in insecure work, or seeking to improve their current employment. The programme is designed to tackle barriers to gaining or advancing in employment, with tailored support delivered on both a one-to-one and group basis. Parents are supported to learn English, access education, enter the job market, and take up opportunities to upskill in order to improve their family’s standard of living. Volunteers also play a key role by buddying and supporting individuals throughout their employment journey.

The Pre-Academy Programme element is designed for individuals who are unemployed and not currently in education. It combines six weeks of employability workshops with four weeks of work placements, giving participants the opportunity to understand and experience the world of work in Scotland. Topics include employee and employer expectations, health and safety, accident reporting, communication, teamwork, leadership, and sector-specific insights. ESOL and numeracy support are also embedded within the programme.
