Respitality - For Donors

• Respitality in Fife provides unpaid carers across the Kingdom with short breaks from their caring routines. These breaks are donated by businesses completely free of charge, supporting unpaid carers to rest, relax, and return to their caring roles feeling refreshed and cared for themselves.

  
  

  Businesses of all types and sizes can donate - and we aim to make it easy to do so.  We'd also like to be able to publicly recognise and thank you for your donation, but we don't do so without your permission.

  There are two types of donations that we can currently accept:

  1. Break donations - typically these are from hospitality, leisure, food industry businesses, where you donate access to a product or service, and where you can specify the details and any restrictions that may apply;

  2. Financial donations - this can be any amount of money and is typically from businesses that don't have any breaks to offer.  Fife Voluntary Action will ring-fence your donation to be used only by unpaid carers in order to access a Respitality break - for example, to pay for transportation or other expenses incurred by the carer when accessing a Respitality break.

   

  Break donation: If you are a business interested in donating a short break to an unpaid carer, please complete the donation form. We ensure that all breaks are allocated to young and adult unpaid carers registered with Carer Support Organisations that we work with.

  Examples of previously donated breaks have included:

  • A meal out
  • A few nights away
  • Tickets to a football game
  • An art workshop

   

  Financial donation: We appreciate that some businesses might struggle to donate a tangible break and would like to support the incredible contribution that unpaid carers make to society, so we are able to accept monetary donations too. These donations will allow us to, for example, pay for an unpaid carer to access transport in order to take up a short break donated by another business.  There are no minimum donation amounts, and every penny donated will be ring-fenced and used only to support unpaid carers to access much-needed Respitality breaks.

  Please e-mail [email protected] to confirm your donation and let us know whether you'd be willing for us to list your business as a donor.  We maintain a list of all donors that we will publish on our new website (this will be launched during 2025) and for exceptional donations and randomly selected donations, we would like to highlight them on our social media channels or e-mail bulletins for example.
