Children, Young People and Families

  • Fife Voluntary Action - with funding from Fife Council - works to build the capacity of third sector organisations working with children, young people and families in Fife.

    What we do

Supporting and representing third sector children’s services organisations

    • We run Fife's Voluntary Sector Children’s Services Forum, which is open to all third sector organisations working with children, young people and families in Fife
    • Support Forum members to act as representatives at partnership meetings (e.g., Child Protection Committee, Children’s Services Planning Group)
    • Represent third sector on strategic partnerships (e.g. Children in Fife)
    • Support third sector influence and understanding of policy development at national, regional and local levels
    • Circulate a regular workforce e-bulletin (children, young people and families)
    • Co-ordinate relevant training and skills development for the sector and workforce
    • Supporting partnerships and collaboration with third sector organisations, as well as with public sector partners

FVA's Chief Officer, Kenny Murphy, represents the Third Sector on the Children in Fife Group and the Fife Partnership. The Children in Fife Group binds Fife Council, the Third Sector, Police Scotland, Scottish Children's Reporter and NHS in common purpose. Strong partnership working has long been understood to be a key factor in ensuring we do the best for expectant and new mothers, early years, children, families and young people. There are dozens of organisations across Fife which contribute significantly to ensuring our children have the best possible start in life. Fife can demonstrate many successful partnerships which have been developed to support this work. From this page you will be able to access information about public sector developments within community planning and the work of our Forum.
