Children with additional support needs are often marginalised, isolated or discriminated against. They often miss out on the opportunity that many children taken for granted, eg going to the cinema, ten pin bowling, swimming, going out for lunch, shopping etc. Short Break Carers provide encouragement and support so that children can enjoy and benefit from these kinds of activities. Parents and siblings also benefit by having quality time for themselves or to spend together. The children who access the Lend a Hand service have a learning disability and live in Fife. Some may also have additional support needs/medical conditions, for example limited mobility, communication difficulties or epilepsy.

Time and Place: Visits take place either in the community or at the Short Break Carer's own home on a monthly basis.
