The Penumbra Youth Project in Kirkcaldy is looking for volunteers to commit on a weekly basis to help staff at the drop-in sessions within high schools, where issues concerning young people can be addressed through discussion. With support and training, volunteers will also be involved in short 1:1 support appointments with young people who have been identified by guidance teachers.

Penumbra will recruit and support pupil mentors to be trained in mental health awareness and solution focused coaching techniques to enable them to provide informal support and volunteers will also be included in this activity.

Volunteers may also be involved in weekly workshops being delivered in high schools on social media to increase pupils' and teachers' knowledge, awareness and safer use of social media. It is hoped the volunteer will enjoy their involvement and gain from it in terms of their own personal objectives. Penumbra recognises that the relationship with volunteers is one of mutual responsibility and commitment within which both have rights and responsibilities.
