As we know, volunteering can often have a big impact on the volunteer as well as people receiving their support. East Fife Mental Health Adolescent Befriending Project wanted to share this great account of challenges overcome using volunteering, to help inspire others. This brilliant story, about a young woman, Lara, who experienced grief and trauma as a child, and how she has now managed to deal with the effects of this, was shared by her for World Mental Health Day. She was able to get support and during her recovery process, someone suggested she try volunteering and in her own words, this made a 'huge' difference to her. You can read about her story by clicking here and watch the video of Lara, describing her situation herself, and where she is now by clicking here.
