About this opportunity: | Are you looking for an opportunity to use and develop your knowledge and skills in new and creative ways? Do you want to give something extra to your community by helping to run a small, local charity? Do you have the drive and ambition to contribute to the strategic development of an organisation that provides support to families in need? If so, Home-Start might have the role for you! Home-Start is a national charity with a community network of 13,500 trained volunteers, supporting 56,000 children and 27,000 families a year in over 200 local Home-Starts across the UK, of which Cowdenbeath office is one of several in Fife. They recruit and train volunteers to help families with young children, making sure a child's early years count. Home-Start is looking for several dynamic individuals to join their Trustee board to assist with managing and developing the strategy of their organisation. They are particularly keen to hear from individuals who have a background in finance and book-keeping. Board meetings take place every 8 weeks and there is also the opportunity to join sub-committees and lead and participate in other areas of the scheme's operations. Training provided: | Trustees are fully inducted into Home-Start before beginning their new role; they will receive: an induction day, introducing Home-Start's service and your responsibilities safeguarding training: providing an overview of safeguarding children in Home-Start, how to respond to concerns about a child and understand where to go for advice and support training on providing a high-quality service to families (quality assurance) access to Home-Start's intranet - full of information and guidance on running a local Home-Start the support of specialist staff at Home-Start UK Additional training may be provided by the local Home-Start |
