Do you enjoy driving? Could you give up a few hours a week to help people get to hospital for dialysis treatment?
The St John Scotland Fife team are looking for volunteer drivers who will have the responsibility of transporting Dialysis patients to and from the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
- Live in the local area -Be available for early morning shifts -Be between 25 - 70 years old -Hold a full driving license and be a competent driver -Great sense of responsibility, commitment, and friendliness
St John Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service and local NHS boards to provide Patient Transport for people attending oncology and renal clinic
Volunteers are given an induction and training delivered by the Patient Transport Coordinator, introduced to the unit and the patients they would be volunteering with. Ongoing support is offered by the PT Coordinator.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - Volunteers travel expenses are reimbursed at 45p per mile. This happens once a month upon receipt of an expenses form and receipts (if available)
You must be between 25 - 70 years old
Hold a full driving licence and be a competent driver
Outgoing and welcoming personality
Ability to communicate with patients and fellow drivers accordingly
Great sense of responsibility and commitment
