    About this opportunity:The hub aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

    SIMD figures show that the building is situated between 3 high area of poverty and deprivation. The community larder aims to support families and individuals by ensuring that they have enough food and are eating well .

    The larder is supported by Glenrothes Foodbank, receives donations of surplus stock from supermarkets and donations from local residents and organisations.

    This volunteer role will typically involve the following:

    - Collecting food from shops and supermarkets
    - Lifting and carrying crates
    - Checking dates and quality of food
    - Setting up/clearing away the larder in the evening
    - Interacting and engaging with larder users
    - Assisting larder users to select food
    - Signpost larder users onto other organisations/avenues of help and support
    - Maintaining updating associated paperwork

    Maximum age:100
    Training provided:As well as having a taster of what's on offer, you will have an induction with the Hub manager and staff and ongoing support to create a plan your role.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Bus fares will be repaid at the value of ticket Mileage will be paid at 45p per mile. Expenses will be reimburse within 5 working days via bank transfer or repaid directly if petty cash is available on the day

    Experience required:To have a warm, friendly, approachable and caring nature. To make people feel welcomed and supported by being empathetic, non -judgmental and understanding towards individuals' and their circumstances or life experiences

    Travel DetailsThe larder is held on a Wednesday and Friday evenings between 5pm-6pm at Gilvenbank Park, Glenrothes KY7 6SU. Shopping and donations may need to be collected out with these times
