    About this opportunity:Volunteers are needed to assist with the monthly Carer's Cafe in Kirkcaldy. This is a cafe for parents and carers as well as people with complex needs who can use the facilities along with attending the cafe. Volunteers would help in the cafe kitchen welcoming, chatting to & providing company to visitors, as well as serving snacks, clearing and cleaning tables and keeping the kitchen area tidy. You may also be asked to support external events such as fun days or Christmas parties.

    The cafe is fully accessible for blind people and thosee with complex needs and learning disabilities. It's held on the last Saturday of each month at the RNIB centre in Kirkcaldy.

    Volunteers are also needed who could help with activities such as arts & crafts or music. You would be guided by the cafe coordinator in this respect but any ideas would be welcome.

    Training provided:Online training will be given covering subjects on sight loss, communication and safeguarding through RNIB induction program. Access to reference material and RNIB website and support from volunteer manager and café coordinator.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Bus fares and mileage at 45p/mile are paid monthly.

    Experience required:If you have the ability to listen and be friendly and understanding, this volunteer role will be perfect for you. Having good communication skills and a flexible attitude will be useful. If you have experience with understanding issues effecting people who are blind, partially sighted or have a learning disability and complex needs this would be helpful.
