Who cares about the carers? Fife Young Carers are looking for befrienders to support and encourage children and young people in attending activities. Giving just 2 hours a week can make a massive impact to a young person in your local area.
Do you have two hours a week to spare and love a good natter? Are you passionate about helping young carers in the community? Are you good with young people? If so then child and youth befriending could be the perfect volunteer role for you.
The children and young people are matched with a volunteer who provides companionship, supportive guidance, and access to a variety of activities, new experiences and opportunities. Short respite has been shown to have an incredible impact on a carer's mental health, letting them expand their social circle and putting them at reduced risk of crisis.
Fife Young Carers are looking for inspirational volunteers who are calm & patient and can support and encourage their young people to access local activities that will enable the young carer to live a life out with their caring role.
No details were provided about the training made available to volunteers. Please contact us to find out more.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - All out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Fife Young Carers are looking for responsible individuals who have excellent listening skills to empathetically and respectfully engage with young people. Thus, experience with young people could be advantageous to this role.
This opportunity takes place in your local area. Volunteers will be required to travel to the chosen activity with the young person (for which out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed), so a driving license is desirable for this role.
This opportunity is compatible with the Saltire Awards for volunteers aged 12-25.
