Director for the Board Volunteer Opportunity No. VO76170 - Created/last updated: 04/08/2020 | ![]() Opportunity |
About this opportunity: | They are a small charity supporting women, girls and boys who have experienced domestic abuse. Their main work is facilitating programmes; their core programmes being The Freedom Programme and The Toolkit for Life. However, they work with children and young people promoting the importance of healthy relationships and work closely with young people who maybe a bit more vulnerable. They also work with women who have learning difficulties and several other specialised groups. These unique programmes help women, girls and boys understand the extent and impact their abusive experiences had – whether in the past of currently. Their main objective is to support women and children to the point of being able to recognise their worth and value, and to move forward in a positive safe way. At any given time, they have at least 25 volunteers supporting them in several capacities. Each woman has completed their programmes and the work they do for Saje is invaluable. They currently have an extremely good and supportive Board. They would like to strengthen the Board. The main skills they are looking for are enthusiasm and passion – but if you have others, that would be fabulous. Funding and sustainability are their greatest challenges. If you have skills in strategic or financial planning or a business background, Saje would be grateful to have you. They are trying to generate income away from Trusts and Foundations. One of their ideas was to gather women’s accounts of the experiences for a book so marketing experience would be ideal. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
