Bennochy Parish Church has given parts of their garden over for community use and anybody is welcome to use the garden for recreational purposes at any time. Work in the garden will be scheduled to suit individual and teams. Teams may include individuals from the local care home, college students, primary and high school pupils. It is appreciated that not everyone is comfortable mixing with large groups so volunteers will where possible be matched with teams that suit them. There are many different roles available from hard landscaping to putting on the kettle and everything in between. By sharing gardening expertise and skills, the aim is to develop areas:- growing produce for community use and in the community café, places for relaxation and meditation - sensory area and an area for play.
no upper age limit has been specified
The volunteers will receive orientation of the grounds and work as part of a team learning from more experienced gardeners and sharing skills. First Aid Training will be offered and any other training which is requested by the volunteer will be researched into for feasibility.
The ongoing support will come in the form of a listening ear from the Open Door Project team and Community Garden team.
