Our team of Tribunal Representatives help clients to appeal against benefit decisions that they feel have been made incorrectly. They support clients to gather evidence in support of their claim and use social security legislation to build a case on behalf of the client. The nature of the appeals process means that there is often a great deal of paperwork around each case. Administrative volunteers with this team provide much needed support for the advisers by processing mail, updating client records, ensuring advisers are alerted to these updates, processing paperwork from third parties such as DWP or Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service and providing client communication under guidance from the caseworker.
no upper age limit has been specified
Volunteers will participate in an initial induction programme, introducing them to the aims, structure and policies of Citizens Advice. This will be followed by specific training on the computer systems they will be expected to use and relevant procedures and tasks that they will be required to carry out as part of this role. Ongoing training will be provided as necessary and support is provided by the Tribunal Representatives and the Bureau Coordinators in the office.
