Leonard Cheshire (LC) provide day care services at Rosyth, Glenrothes and Dysart and also provide residential care and supported living services within the Fife area. LC have been based in Glenrothes since 1984 providing services for those with learning/physical disabilities and sensory impairments. At LC we encourage those that use our services to be as independent as possible, supporting them to focus on what they can do and not what they cannot. Volunteers play a major part in helping us to do this, and much more, for the benefit of those that use our services. Ideally the volunteer would provide support to organise promotional events/activities combining this with fundraising. Monies raised through fundraising can go towards social outings, provision of specialised equipment, maintenance of sensory gardens, sensory rooms, etc. Those that use our services are consulted on how we can use these funds to benefit all that use our services. If you also have knowledge of your local community, good communication and organisational skills and be able to complete tasks independently, that would be great!
no upper age limit has been specified
The induction will have information that the volunteer needs to be comfortable in their role. Should the volunteer be interested in further training that would be something that can be arranged. The volunteer will also have the ongoing support of the Volunteer Coordinator.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - Volunteer expenses are paid as they are incurred.
Ideally the person would have good knowledge of the local community; be able to work on their own as well as with the support of the Volunteer Coordinator; good organisational skills and a keenness to participate in/and or plan community fundraising activities.
Good communication skills with people either face to face and/or over the phone would be very beneficial for this role.
