North Queensferry Railway Station located at the north end of the Forth bridge was built in 1890 a few months after the opening of the bridge. Refurbishment of the building was started in 2012 by the North Queensferry Station Trust (NQHT) with completion expected for early 2017. The Gallery rooms are managed by NQHT to showcase the exhibition on the station history and the Forth Bridge. Keeping the station building open and secure with the help of a team of volunteers is now seen as a priority. Further improvements to the current exhibitions is planned with a range of Forth Bridge artefacts on show. New exhibitions are already being planned for 2017/18. The installation of a large screen TV/Monitor is also planned where a range of video clips, relevant to the exhibition, can be shown. This installation should ensure the large gallery (formerly the waiting room) is fully equipped for use as a meeting venue by outside organisations.
