    About this opportunity:Would you be interested in preparing and serving wholesome snacks and lunches at a Community Cafe?
    Would you be happy to chat to customers who will tend to be older people or perhaps those who are new to the area?

    The Olive Branch cafe is open on a Thursday from 11am until 2pm serving teas/coffees, soup, sandwiches and home baking at a very reasonable cost. Customers are older people and others who may be isolated in the community, offering them a welcoming, safe environment to enjoy good food and company. It is hoped that volunteers will get involved in one or more of the following duties -
    - preparing cafe area (putting out tables and chairs)
    - serving and clearing up
    - kitchen duties and dishwashing
    - making soup and sandwiches
    - operating a simple till
    - greeting customers and befriending

    Takes place:

    Fridays
    Saturdays
    Sundays
    Minimum age:17
    Maximum age:no upper age limit has been specified
    Training provided:Welcome and induction to the project. Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate with the possibility of more in depth food handling training may be available.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Public transport rates are reimbursed to volunteers weekly. Car mileage rates @ 25 pence/mile

    Experience required:They are looking for people who are interested in or have some experience of catering and/or working with the public. However reliability, enthusiasm and a willingness to "muck in" as part of a team are equally important.
