    About this opportunity:Victim Support provides support to victims and witnesses of crime all over Fife. Victim service volunteers support individuals both emotionally and practically through telephone and face-to-face interaction. Witness service volunteers are based within one of Fife's Sheriff Courts for 1 full day per week supporting those giving evidence at court.

    Clients have suffered from a variety of different crimes and the impact is unique to the individual. This calls for volunteers to be non-judgmental and adaptable in the service they provide. Accreditation takes on average 6 months and we look for volunteers to commit to 18 months of volunteering thereafter.

    Minimum age:18

    Training provided:A short introductory session giving an overview and background of Victim Support Scotland. Second stage is our Foundation Training Course; this consists of three full days and covers different topics, skills and provides information specifically relating to the voluntary role. Volunteers are introduced to the local team and begin shadowing. Accreditation takes on average 6 months.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed on a monthly basis. This includes public tranport, mileage and lunch costs.

    Experience required:Previous knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system is not essential. We are looking for people who have the following skills:- Adaptability, flexibility, the ability to work in and with communities, the ability to work in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner and to work in partnership with local services.
