    About this opportunity:This role will directly support people living with dementia who attend the Musical Memories group. You will be part of a small team offering person centred support that meets the needs of the people who attend. The group enjoy doing musical based activities – from musical bingo to quizzes and seated exercise as well as have a refreshment, biscuits and a blether.

    Typical tasks involved with the role will include:

    -Supporting a community group as requested by the group leader.

    -To enable individuals to meet with others with similar interests

    -To communicate with people with dementia, family members and staff within the community group setting.

    -To attend training to be informed about dementia and to attend any other necessary training relevant to volunteering role.

    -To carry out any other reasonable duties

    Maximum age:100
    Training provided:The volunteer with have a volunteer induction training session with the Volunteer Co-Ordinator before they join the Musical Memories Group. Then ongoing training relevant to the volunteer role and corporate policies e.g. Dementia Friends training; Brain Health training etc.
    Out of pocket expenses paid?
    Yes - The organisations will reimburse public transport expenses as long as the volunteer keeps the receipts. Mileage will be reimbursed at (45p per mile) when the volunteer uses their own vehicle. These will be reimbursed monthly.

    Experience required:Alzheimer Scotland are looking for honest, reliable and committed volunteers with excellent interpersonal skills. Volunteers will contribute to the organisations vision for change and should be willing to participate in the induction and training programme as well as follow and adhere to the organisations policies and procedures.

    Travel DetailsThe group takes place in St Ninians Church, Tanshall Road, Glenrothes, KY6 2LP on a Thursday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3 pm. Parking is available at the Church, there is a public bus service in the area too.
