About this opportunity:
LINK (est 1997) befriends individuals with mental health issues that may be isolated because of this; befrienders support befriendees to take part in activities, have someone to chat to, increase their confidence and connections in the community •
They are seeking volunteers from all backgrounds and levels of experience to join their Board of Trustees • Positivity, enthusiasm and the ability to work as part of a team are as important as any other experience • You will be offered free training and support in your role •
Whether your experience includes being a Board member or not, or you, your family or friends have lived experience of mental health, Link would love to hear from you • Having business or technology knowledge and skills would be helpful but isn't essential • You may think creatively or have good links with your local community - do get in touch!
Meetings are usually the first Thursday of the month •
Trustees play an essential role in the governance of charities, safeguarding the good name and values of LINK, promoting its work and ensuring their financial stability •
A volunteer pack explaining the role of a Trustee and ongoing training is available and flagged up to Trustees as it becomes available, support is available from other Board members or the Chairperson should any issues arise
Out of pocket expenses paid?
You may have experience of being a Board member, or have experience in mental health or you may have a good head for business or technology. You may think creatively or have good links with your local community. The ability to work as part of a team is an essential quality as is enthusiasm and positivity.
Restrictions on who can volunteer
We work confidentially with adults and young people with mental health issues, some may have forensic backgrounds, young people would be vulnerable and /or inexperienced in these situations
