    About this opportunity:The Homelands Trust is looking for a Trustee with a financial background to assist with an exciting period of growth and development
     •  The Trust opened its first self-catering lodges in September 2014
     •  These lodges have proved to be extremely popular reaching 80% occupancy in the year ending December 31st 2016
     •  Given this success, the Trust has now started exploring the possibilities of a second phase, building 5 more lodges on the existing state
     •  To achieve its growth strategy, the Board of Trustees recognises a need to strengthen its board and is looking to appoint a Finance Trustee to provide the Board with advice and assistance particularly in respect of phase 2 but also regarding the day-to-day running of the Trust's financial affairs
     •  General duties will include:- Contributing actively in assisting in the crafting of the strategic direction of the Trust
     •  Safeguarding the good name and values of the Trust
     •  Ensuring the financial stability of the Trust, protecting and managing the Trust's property and investment portfolio
     •  Acting in the best interests of the Trust and avoiding any conflict of interest
     •  Creating and presenting budgets, management accounts, business plans, strategic plans, etc
     •  Ensuring suitable accounting procedures are in place and that external scrutiny is carried out in the manner required

    Experience required:A background in finance gained either in the private, public or third sector. Qualified chartered accountant, understanding of charity finance, and understanding of roles of directors/trustees. Ability to analyse proposals and examine financial consequences. Ability to commit the necessary time and effort to the Trust. Strategic thinker. Open and honest. Team player. Ability to work with Microsoft office and Sage Accounting.
