FVA service updates

  • Like most other organisations, FVA is slowly starting to reverse the changes to its services enforced by lockdown restrictions. We're not operating exactly the same way as we were before March, and it's unlikely that we will for quite some time, but most of our services are available in some form.

We'll keep this page updated with the latest on which of our services, offices and projects are operating and how you can access them.

Please send any questions you have to [email protected]

    Our offices

Our offices remain closed to the public for the time being. Our staff have begun to return to work, and we are using this time to thoroughly assess how we can safely reopen our buildings to the public again.

    Footcare Fife

We know that our Footcare Fife service is essential for many, and we're working hard to get it back up and running again. We obviously have an enormous backlog, and we need to be careful about how we approach this service to ensure that proper health and safety practice is observed.

Our team is currently working through the list of cancelled appointments from the lockdown period and trying to arrange sessions for those that were impacted at our New Volunteer House office. The service is not currently open for bookings, and clients will be contacted by us when there is an appointment available.

For further information, please contact our Footcare Fife team

    Room bookings

While our offices are currently closed, we are able to accommodate some room bookings. Room capacities are, of course, reduced to permit proper physical distancing. However, we also have high quality video conferencing equipment available, and can provide support in its use.

To discuss your room booking needs, please e-mail [email protected] with a list of your requirements. We will do our best to accommodate you where we can.

    Training and events

We have continued to provide training sessions, forums and other events throughout the lockdown period using Zoom. We'll continue to deliver these sessions online until it's safe for us to have large numbers of people in our buildings again.

You can find listings of our training events here and of our forums and other events here.

If these sessions being online is a barrier to you participating, please let us know. We don't want anyone to miss out on sessions that would be valuable to them, and we may be able to suppoort you to take part.

    Advice services

Our normal advice services- on organisational governance, volunteering, employability, and more- are open as normal. However, with some staff deployed elsewhere, there may be slight delays. We also cannot guarantee to be able to meet in person, and video, phone and e-mail chats will remain the default for now.

Let us know what you need by e-mailing [email protected].

    Helping Hand

Our Helping Hand service has enabled us to match thousands of people with the support that they need- shopping services, befriending, and much more. We were overwhelmed with offers of help, and wish to thank the people of Fife for stepping up in a big way.

As services return to normal, we are scaling back this service to operate mainly as a befriending/check-in service. We will, however, try to help with other support needs where we can, as we always have- pandemic or not.

    Prescription delivery service

We're extremely proud to have made nearly 5,000 deliveries of prescriptions since March to people in Fife who weren't able to access their medications any other way.

As the world begins to return to something a little closer to normality, and in line with the Scottish Government's various advisories on shielding and our exit from lockdown, we have taken the decision to close this service.
We understand that some people have come to rely on this service and that this may be worrying for them. Should you require some guidance on your options, please call 0800 389 6046 and ask for a member of the prescriptions team, who will be able to discuss this change further with you. Alternatively, you can e-mail us here.

We also think it is important to note that- should the Scottish Government's advice change, and we find ourselves returning to the stricter lockdown of the past few months, we will be ready to redeploy this service when needed.

    Shopping delivery service

Our shopping delivery service will cease on Saturday 29 August. All existing clients have been contacted with details of alternative arrangements. If you have not received this information, please let us know

Pandemic resource pages

Throughout the lockdown period, we kept our Pandemic page updated with lots of useful resources. We're keeping that page live, but will not be making any further updates to it. Any further information will be added to our news page.
