  • Dementia Friendly Glenrothes Report and Update

    Created: 11/01/2018

Dementia Friendly Glenrothes have launched their year 1 report outlining all their work to date.

Dementia Friendly Glenrothes aims to build a community where:

    • people with dementia and their partners, families and carers are understood, respected and supported,
    • people with dementia can find their way around and feel safe,
    • people with dementia have equal access to local facilities - even if they may need a little support to do so,
    • people come together to learn about dementia and make some simple, practical changes that can make a huge difference to people living with dementia.

Highlights of the project to date include having:

    • Approached 187 shops, businesses, services and community groups - out of these 48 have started to look at becoming Dementia friendly
    • 3 organisations become dementia friendly
      • Kingdom Shopping Centre
      • Glenrothes Foodbank
      • Aldi Glenrothes
    • Engaged with 40 people who are affected by Dementia to tell them about their experiences

Please note that the new Project Manager for the Dementia Friendly Glenrothes work will be Ruth McCabe who will be the new contact for this work. Ruth can be contacted by telephone at 01592 803 800 or email at [email protected].
