  • Charity Related General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Guidance

    Created: 22/12/2017
    News/Events Category: General News

The Information Commissioner's Office has now published a GDPR FAQ for Charities on their website. This covers a lot of questions regularly being asked at events and through enquiries as well as providing links to relevant guidance and documents.

The guide to the GDPR is a fairly new document that has been added to the website and breaks down each area of the GDPR, such as rights and legal basis for process, providing guidance on each. While it’s not complete it is regularly updated as more information from the Article 29 Working Party in Europe and about the Data Protection Bill currently going through Parliament.

Of particular interest for charities will be that they have just updated the sections on consent and legitimate interests, with both sections including handy checklists to help organisations assess their compliance with each. For charities working with sensitive category data, referred to as special category data under the GDPR, they have also added further guidance.
