  • The Richmond Fellowship Scotland - Support Practitioner (Male) x 8

    Created: 11/07/2017

    Post: Support Practitioner (Male)

Hours: 39 per week or various part-time

Salary: £16,731 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is a leading voluntary organisation, supporting people with a broad range of needs to live in their own homes. They support over 2800 people throughout Scotland and are committed to delivering services that recognise every person as an individual, treating them with dignity and respect. They are currently looking to increase their staff team in the Glenrothes and Levenmouth area and are looking specifically for male applicants due to growth in the services they provide.

Ryan and Erik are going to share a house but don`t know how to get along with each other. Josh likes to tinker about with his bike but isn`t sure what to do. Adam wants someone to go walking in the hills with him, even when it`s raining. Gary wants a dog and needs advice. Stevie is very anxious in social settings and needs someone to help him. Could you support any of these guys to achieve the positive outcomes they deserve? Your skills and values are more important than experience, so if you`re fit and healthy, know how to have fun and have a wide range of personal interests and activities; this could be the right opportunity for you. It would also be great if you have worked in this type of service before and want to develop your career with a progressive organisation, committed to achieving excellent outcomes for the people they support and for their staff.

You will be part of a great team, supporting individuals with a variety of complex needs, all of whom also have physical or learning disabilities and autism. All of the people supported need help with the different aspects of ordinary life such as general household tasks, personal care and leading an active, fun filled, purposeful life. There are a number of people with complex needs in the service, some with limited communication. Some of the individuals can get anxious and display challenging behaviour such as verbal outbursts, becoming upset or withdrawing from support. You will join an experienced team full of enthusiastic staff that will mentor you, provide support and guidance and you will also receive excellent training including a SVQ in social care.

Eight male Support Practitioner posts are available (hours range from 0 to 39 hours per week), so if you are looking for full-time or part-time this could be the job for you. This is an excellent opportunity to make a change in your life and in that of the people they support. The work can be challenging, but as well as a competitive salary, enhanced pension contributions and annual leave, childcare vouchers and discounts at over 850 online and high street retailers, they can offer you a rewarding and really satisfying opportunity.

Schedule 9 Part 1 (1)(1)(a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this post. PVG checks will be required of all successful applicants; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector.
