Fife Voluntary Action has recently said goodbye to several members of staff, including our longest serving member, Sandra Rimmer who has retired.
Sandra Rimmer had worked for FVA and its predecesors for 27 years! Sandra began her career helping with admin including sending out newsletters, which were all paper based back then. Gradually Sandra moved into doing some accounts and soon the Finance department became her second home.
Over the years, Sandra helped support hundreds of organisations through the pitfalls of accounting and finance.
Outside of work, Sandra is a committed volunteer. She has volunteered with the Girl Guides for 23 years and has even been honoured as the Girl Guides’ Volunteer of the Year.
In the days leading up to Sandra’s departure, her office was overflowing with flowers and cards from people showing their appreciation for the work she has done over many years. Sandra wished to thank everyone for their kind wishes, flowers, gifts and cards.
We’ve also seen one of our volunteering team leave too. Linda Butcher worked for FVA (including its previous incarnations) for 19 years, joining what was originally Fife Volunteering Development Agency in Kirkcaldy and later became Volunteer Centre Fife before the Interface merger in 2012.
Linda was often the first face someone dropping into our Kirkcaldy premises would see and she was always happy to help people looking to volunteer. Linda combined working at FVA with lecturing in alternative therapies at Fife College.
Linda left FVA in April 2016 to pursue her dream of building a sustainable house and opening an alternative therapy facility.
And finally, we say goodbye to Alan Fowler, one of our capacity building officers who has also departed after three years in the job.
His role was diverse, helping to assist third sector organisations through transition, for example writing constitutions, developing legal structures or assistance through a crisis.
Alan is to begin a career as a self-employed consultant working within sports development.
Kenny Murphy, Chief Executive Officer said: “I want thank Sandra, Linda and Alan for their hard work over the years – 49 years in total. They have helped develop the work of FVA. I want to wish them every success with their future endeavours.”
