The Fife Families Website www.fifedirect.org.uk/earlyyears/ has been up and running for some time now and is a great platform to promote events and activities for families. It is simple to update and displays lots of useful information on what’s happening in Fife for families. For more information contact Linsey Sanders - [email protected]

Are you a Blogger? – As part of Fife’s ‘Take time to eat well’ we are looking for people who love to blog, would like to share their knowledge and experience and have great examples of healthy family eating and lifestyle. Please contact [email protected]

Fife’s Guinness Record Breaking Attempt – Hurry! Last chance to sign up for the special Guinness World Record-breaking challenge. 500 lucky children and their parents are being given the chance to help get Fife into the record books. This inspirational, one-off event will attempt to break the record of 'The most parents reading with their child simultaneously'. Participating kids receive a free book and a goody bag on the day. The event will take place at Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre, at 10.00am on Tuesday 19 May 2015. Contact [email protected] for more info, or to book a place go to readfife.eventbrite.co.uk

Children’s’ Services Inspection Dates have been established for the end of summer – more information to follow.

Funding Opportunity – Funds are available from Family Nurture for short pieces of work that enhance current early year’s services. Funds must be used and evaluated by March 2016 so not appropriate for staff recruitment. Examples of possible priorities could be inclusion of Dads in work or alleviating poverty. Brief A4 summary to [email protected] by the 22 May with decisions 27 May 2015.

Family & Parenting Sub Groups – Changes have been approved to the structure and remit of these groups. They will be dissolved and replaced by Local Early Years Groups, more information will follow very soon including a call for representatives from the third sector who have the capacity to participate in the more strategic link to EYSG and the local role from August onwards.

SMID areas 1 & 2 – Is this data easily captured? Please contact Trish at [email protected] with information on how you collect, record and evaluate SIMD information.
