The No One Left Behind (NOLB) cross-sector working group has recently published the Definitions of Work-related Activities and Allowances.
This document provides a clear and consistent framework for employability practitioners, local authorities, providers and partners delivering No One Left Behind services on the range of work-related activities and financial supports that can be offered to participants.
It seeks to clarify where different interventions sit within an employability journey, who they are intended for, and how they should be funded and administered.
The document is intended to:
- Establish a shared understanding and consistent definitions of key employability activities across Scotland.
- Clarify the distinction between:
- unpaid activities (volunteering, work experience, work shadowing);
- paid work-related opportunities (paid work placements/ILMs and Employer Recruitment Incentives);
- financial support mechanisms (EMA and Training Allowances).
- It can also be used to support decision-making on the appropriate use of No One Left Behind funding.
