Fewer than 3% of charity trustees in England and Wales are under 30. That makes the contribution of young trustees like Hannah Wallwork, trustee at Cycling Without Age, both rare and vital, bringing fresh perspectives, digital expertise, and lived experience that many boards are missing. She has helped a national grassroots network prove its impact and secure new opportunities, while also building leadership skills that will shape her career. Her journey demonstrates the two-way value of trusteeship: strengthening charities and growing future leaders.

Hannah’s Advice for Future Trustees is: “Pick a cause you genuinely care about, and don’t underestimate the value of your everyday skills. They can transform a board. Matchmaking events are a brilliant way to see what’s out there and find the right fit.”
