Unpaid carers and their organisations are being invited to share their views on how to improve Carer’s Allowance, as part of the first major review of the benefit since it was first introduced half a century ago.

The six-week call for evidence will gather views on: modernising the earnings limit to reduce the impact of the current cliff edge, improving predictability for carers with varying incomes, and better supporting those with work and caring responsibilities.

The call for evidence is open to all respondents via GOV.UK, and is available in a range of accessible formats.

The survey will close at 11.59pm on Tuesday 18 August 2026.
