Fairy Tales for Adults: Stories of Displacement and Magic is an interactive creative writing workshop inspired by Ukrainian storytelling traditions and contemporary experiences of displacement.

Led by Ukrainian writer and refugee Kateryna Ustiuhova, the session invites participants to explore themes of home, loss, resilience, and transformation through the lens of fairy tale and magical realism. Through guided prompts, participants will create short pieces of writing that blend personal experience with metaphor, myth, and imagination.

The workshop will include a short reading to set the tone, followed by writing exercises and the opportunity (optional) to share work in a supportive and welcoming space. No prior writing experience is required.

This event offers a gentle and creative way to reflect on complex experiences while connecting with others through storytelling.

The workshop is part of Refugee Festival Scotland.
