This training session by Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will provide an overview of the Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) role and how DEAs work collaboratively with providers, JobCentre teams, and employers to support people with health conditions and/or disabilities to move toward, enter, and remain in work through personalised support and practical solutions such as reasonable adjustments, based on individual need.
Session objectives
- Understand the DEA role and remit
- Recognise how DEAs support clients in the JobCentre
- Clarify how DEAs support Work Coaches and strengthen joint working
- Explore DEA involvement in in-work support and retention
- Increase awareness of how DEAs work with employers and promote DWP resources
- Understand how DEAs work with providers and wider services
- Agree practical next steps for collaboration
