Terminally-ill people applying for disability benefits in Scotland can have their application fast-tracked through the Special Rules for Terminal Illness.

Eligible people will automatically get the highest possible payment.

To process someone’s application form under the Special Rules for Terminal Illness, they need a shortened application form and BASRiS form (completed by a registered medical practitioner or nurse) to confirm someone’s terminal illness diagnosis.

Social Security Scotland have designed a new resources page for stakeholders, clinicians and clients.
