Befriending Networks have released a free course on signposting to appropriate support.

Whether you’re new to befriending or well established in your role, this course is designed to help befrienders protect their wellbeing and boundaries while supporting others. Through the practical skill of signposting, we can protect all involved in befriending and ensure the most appropriate support is accessed.

This course reviews the balance of providing social support without overstepping and creating a dependency for the service user, and without the befriender feeling pressured or strained from befriending.
