Homelands Trust-Fife is an award-winning charity providing inclusive holiday lodges and a welcoming community hub at the Paxton Centre. Thanks to previous grant funding, they have built a vibrant programme of community activities including craft and art sessions, gardening groups and a much-loved community caf. As a result, their volunteer numbers have grown. Volunteers play a vital role across the cafe, gardening and community activities. To build on this success and sustain momentum, they are creating a new Volunteer Coordinator role.

    The role

This role exists to ensure volunteers feel valued, well-trained and supported, and that their experience at Homelands is positive and rewarding. Working closely with the small staff team, the postholder will improve volunteer induction, training and communication, and help create meaningful volunteer roles that benefit individuals, Homelands' guests and the wider community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Recruit, induct and support volunteers across the Paxton Centre, community activities and Homelands gardens
    • Develop clear volunteer roles, rotas and responsibilities, particularly for the community cafe
    • Introduce and manage a flexible cafe rota, allowing volunteers time off and improving sustainability
    • Provide ongoing support, supervision and recognition for volunteers
    • Improve communication with volunteers, ensuring they feel informed, confident and appreciated
    • Coordinate training opportunities and ensure volunteers receive a high-quality induction
    • Support the growth of volunteer-led activities and increased opening hours of the community cafe
    • Keep accurate volunteer records and support monitoring and reporting for the funded project
    • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to create a welcoming, inclusive environment
