National Survey - Employability Commissioning
Created: 07/08/2025The Improvement Service is seeking support to gather case studies to support the ‘Good Practice Guidance – Commissioning Employment Services in Scotland.’
This is an action being taken forward from the Employability Strategic Plan 2024 – 27 which acknowledges the need for better commissioning and fairer funding of employability services in Scotland.
The Improvement Service is looking for input to illustrate the various routes to market, the best practice, but also the challenges, along all phases of the commissioning timeline.
This might include examples of positive experience, such as:
Or it may show the exact opposite – highlighting instances of invitations to tender being released with prohibitively tight turnaround times, or delayed processes with no communication.
All examples are welcome.
The Improvement Service has developed a short survey – for both commissioners and suppliers and employability colleagues are invited to consider and submit examples of both good and bad commissioning practice through a survey. Some of these examples will be used in a future guidance pack on good practice in commissioning employment services.
If the Improvement Service receives a high number of responses, the plan is to share all of them out to all networks. Examples can be published anonymously, contact details will be needed at the outset will to verify details.
