SCVO: 2025 Voluntary Sector Workforce Survey
Created: 01/07/2025The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) have launched their survey of Scotland's voluntary sector paid and unpaid workforce.
They know that staff and volunteer retention and recruitment is a real issue just now and that workloads are high for many, but also that working in the sector can be incredibly rewarding.
They want to hear from people from across the sector, from frontline staff to managers, about how they feel about their work just now. What do you enjoy and value? What is less satisfying? How could your employer better support you?
The main areas this survey will be looking at are:
Who should take the survey?
This survey is aimed at anyone in Scotland volunteering or working for a voluntary organisation (charity, social enterprise or community group etc).
How will the findings be used?
The survey is being conducted by SCVO, alongside partners Volunteer Scotland and ACOSVO. The aim is for these questions and findings to complement surveys such as the CIPD Good Work Index and the 2023 GCVS Fair Work survey, and to explore what has changed in the 10 years since the 2015 SCVO Workforce survey.
They will share the findings widely, including with third sector employers and volunteering organisations to help them attract and retain motivated and skilled staff.
