The Lang Toun Fest official programme is out now, with thousands of copies being distributed across Kirkcaldy and surrounding areas.

The local arts and culture festival kicks off on Saturday 30 May with the Lang Toun Jazz Proms Opening Concert and will officially close with Fife Pride on 05 July.

Over 125 events have been included in the printed programme, with more events being added online at langtounfest.com. With live music, literature, performance, yoga, comedy, food demonstrations, talks, walking tours, events and exhibitions - there’s something for everyone. People are invited to pick up a festival programme from venues across Kirkcaldy and the surrounding area.

The festival has also attracted some big names with an evening in conversation with actor Brian Cox, Val McDermid in conversation with Nicola Sturgeon, and Hacienda DJ Graeme Park returning to his roots for a special benefit gig for Sarcoma UK. Support for the festival has been welcome, with Stagecoach funding the printing and distribution of the programme, as the lead sponsor for the inaugural event. The festival also has a distinctive logo designed by well-known Kirkcaldy ceramic artist Susan McGill.

The idea for a community-based festival for Kirkcaldy came from discussions among the Kirkcaldy Partners group, made up of individuals and groups from across the town, all of whom share the collective wish and passion to highlight (and showcase) all that’s good, creative and positive about the Lang Toun!

Building on existing initiatives in the town such as the Adam Smith Festival of Ideas, Fife Pride and the Kirkcaldy Walking Festival, alongside this year’s 100th anniversary of Kirkcaldy Galleries – there was an opportunity to build on what was already happening and create something special for the town. Plans are underway to make the Lang Toun Festival an annual event.

Ryan Strachan, Development Manager for Love Oor Lang Toun said: “Lang Toun Fest 2025 is a celebration of arts, culture, and local talent with a unique collection of events celebrating our amazing town and the people and organisations in it."
