Access Therapies Fife - Child and Family Primary Care Psychology Groups
Created: 17/05/2025The primary care psychology team in the Child and Family service at Access Therapies Fife have been working hard to update the groups offered to children, young people, and their families in Fife.
They have spaces available in their groups. There will also be more groups running after the summer if families can't make this block.
Parenting an Anxious Child
Their new group Parenting an Anxious Child (PAC) has been developed for parents of primary aged children looking to learn more about how to support them with anxiety. The group is split into parent only and parent and child sessions (9-11 years), where parents will get to support their children to learn ways to manage feeling anxious. This group has three parent-only sessions and two parent and child sessions. Parent and child sessions are divided by age, with older child sessions happening face-to-face and sessions for younger children taking place online.
Glow
They continue to offer their Glow online resources for parents and primary age children. This includes the Glow Q&A sessions where parents can find out more about what to expect and how to access Glow, and to ask any questions that come up from their experience.
Shine
For young people aged 12-17 they have an anxiety management group. Over six weekly sessions you'll learn about anxiety and about helpful coping strategies that young people can use when they feel anxious. Options to attend face-to-face or online are available. Young people sessions will be face-to-face in Dunfermline.
Understanding Kids
Understanding Kids consists of six online information sessions for parents/carers of primary aged children. The sessions cover understanding development, emotion regulation, managing distress, positive parenting strategies and supporting your child’s emotional wellbeing. They provide parents/carers with evidence-based strategies, and information, to support their child to thrive. Sessions can be attended as individual workshops but parents are invited to attend as many as they like.
Understanding Teens
Understanding Teens consist primarily of 6sixonline information sessions for parents/carers of secondary aged children. The sessions cover understanding adolescent development, strengthening the parent-teen relationship, emotion regulation, communication strategies and supporting your teen’s emotional wellbeing. They provide parents/carers with evidence-based strategies, and information, to support their teen to thrive.
