Alpkit think getting outdoors is amazing, it is good for the mind, body, and soul. That's why they're so inspired to see the work of individuals and projects helping others overcome obstacles to get out and enjoy it too.

This is why Alpkit puts 1% of sales into the Alpkit Foundation. The foundation provides small awards that support grassroots, direct action projects and passionate game changers where a positive difference can be made to remove the barriers in getting outdoors and experience the benefits of time spent outdoors.

Their focus is on small awards that have direct impact, with support in the region of £50 - £500 to individuals, community groups, schools, and organisations to encourage people to get outdoors and have great experiences that otherwise wouldn't happen.

They particularly like to support projects that:

    • Encourage responsible outdoor activity
    • Have long-lasting benefits
    • Introduce new people to get outdoors
    • Demonstrate value for money

This might include things like providing discounted equipment for outdoor adventures, supporting outdoor educational programmes, supporting proactive conservation and environmental projects, and supporting projects that encourage the development of facilities for outdoor skills and activities.

    Who can apply?

Individuals, community groups, schools, and third sector organisations.

There's no limit to the number of times you can apply for an award. They welcome multiple awards over time and each award is assessed on its own merit.

If possible, please apply at least three months before the start of a project so that Trustees have time to consider it at their next meeting.

    Exemptions

    • Holidays
    • Charity challenges
    • Commercially led travel expeditions that are not focused the great outdoors (e.g. rebuilding schools, overseas medicine)
    • Scout Jamborees – due to the large number of participants involved in Scout Jamborees, this is not something they are able to support. They do support the Scout Association through their Youth in Adventure Fund
    • Retrospective applications – make sure you get your application in on time!

    How to apply

Apply on the Alpkit Foundation's website.

    Apply any time.
