Do you feel strongly that the third sector has an important role to play in Fife?

Our sector faces a growing list of challenges, from reducing financial resources, new legislation, increasing costs, climate impacts through to managing complexity and demand, but a constant in all of that – for many years – has been attracting key people. This applies to both paid and voluntary roles.

FVA is continually striving to work with partners to ensure the third sector in Fife is resourced, recognised and valued for the difference it makes in our communities. We do a lot to bring the public and third sectors together for the good of the people of Fife. Our strategic work often goes unnoticed, but it is critical to ensuring the people of Fife get access to high quality, public services. We also have work to do as a sector to better collaborate, share costs, upskill our workforce, innovate and maximise value for money and more.  We’re working hard to encourage and facilitate more of that in Fife too.

However, we need help with this strategic work. We need your help! We’re currently looking for people who understand the important role our sector plays to join our Board of Trustees/Directors, and/or to join our Third Sector Strategy Group.

    Trustee/Director opportunities

Our Board and the Strategy Group both consist of excellent, experienced people but we need more. We’re not looking for particular skills, just well-motivated people who understand some of the strategic context we operate within and who are passionate about the third sector in Fife.

The Board role is suited to anybody who has a good understanding of the third sector, regardless of where they work or used to work. Meetings are held five times per year, early evenings. It’s a great opportunity to develop good governance skills, or refresh existing ones.

The Strategy Group role is only for those who are currently the CEO/Director of a third sector organisation - or a leading board member of an unstaffed third sector organisation - operating in Fife. Meetings are held six times per year, during the working day. This is a great opportunity to get involved in strategic developments and network with peers from across Fife.

To find out more about either role please contact our CEO, Kenny Murphy at [email protected]

If you’re interested in developing your governance skills, but not on a more generic/strategic board like FVA’s, then do let us know – there are dozens of great organisations that are doing great work but need more people on their board/committee.
