Fife Violence Against Women: Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (Level 2)
Created: 23/04/2025The Fife Violence Against Women Partnership is holding an information/training session about the Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DSDAS) which Police Scotland introduced in October 2015.
The Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DSDAS) gives people the right to ask about the background of their partner. It also allows concerned relatives, friends, and practitioners the right to ask about someone’s partner. They can ask if the partner has been abusive in the past. DSDAS also gives Police Scotland the power to tell people that they may be at risk of domestic abuse. This information can be given even if it is not asked for, therefore enabling the person potentially at risk to make informed choices about whether they remain in their current/new relationship or not.
It is never disclosed to the potential victim about who made the application for disclosure so there is no repercussions to your relationship with that person.
Please join the session to find out more about the scheme including the process of making an application, and the steps that Police Scotland take in partnership with others. This is a preventative and protective measure that could help save lives.
